What Makes a Man a Man?
This revelation from the Holy Spirit a few days ago, but I completely forgot it and I prayed for the Lord to remind me what his revelation was to me. because if we don't write down what the Lord tells us it's really easy for us to just forget. It's like the Lord speaks to us in one ear and it goes out the other unless we really work at remembering the things He tells us. So I prayed for the Lord to remind me what this revelation was and He reminded me a couple days later in an interesting way. But this word is true, and it is a blessing to me because in the world there is a definition of what it means to be a man. And as we know from Revelation 666 is the mark of the beast or the mark of man and there is a certain image that men take on in the world. You in the world have to make a certain amount of money for the world to accept you as a real man. You have to be hitting the gym. You have to be... You know the world defines a man how well you can fight, or they define a man with how many women that man has slept with. And there's all these ways a man can look puffed up in the world.
But what defines a man? Is it how much money he makes or how big his home is or his wife is? How many things he possesses? We know that Jesus said a man does not consist of his possessions. But what makes a man more specifically a man or the man that God wants him to be? I want to read to you first from Genesis chapter 1. This is starting in verse 26.
26Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
So when we're speaking about man, this is mankind which includes men and women. So what does it mean to be a man or a woman? Well, the revelation is if you want to be a man, you have to be close to Jesus Christ because He is your creator. The best image that you can be of a man is the exact image God created you to be in, which is in the likeness of Him. And we know that because that is what God told us in Genesis when God said, let us make man in our image. You were created in the image of God. And that is a wonderful blessing to each of us who know that we are God's children.
We don't have to take on 666. We don't have to look like the world. We don't have to be making a certain amount of money. You don't have to be hitting the gym. You don't even have to have arms to be a man. But you do have to become in the likeness of Jesus Christ.
He is our creator. He created us male and female. But he created us in His image. And the closer we become to His image and the more we shed off of the world, the more we become a man or the more we become a woman. And this is a wonderful revelation because if we get our focus right on Jesus Christ and we stop trying to become the man or the woman that the world is trying to tell us to be or our parents or the culture, then we can shed off all of that insecurity.
So many people are insecure because they're taking on the image of the devil. And the devil will always make you feel insecure. If you're a woman, no matter how thin you are or how beautiful, the devil is always telling you compare yourself to these other women. Compare yourself to these models. And you are always subpar. You're always not beautiful enough. So, you always think you need more clothes, more makeup, and it becomes completely vain.
And for men, it's always this macho thing. You have to make a certain amount of money, prove yourself better than others, demean others. I'm speaking in the world, of course. And so both men and women, their identities deteriorate when they try to become this 666 man or woman. But we need to shed off the world, get rid of anything, all the ideas that have gotten into us from TV, from music, from these false American idols, the image that America has of what it means to be a man or a woman. And then we need to start asking Jesus Christ how we can be perfectly in His image, how He created us. Because after all, in the beginning, we were created in God's image.
Jesus Christ is the Son of Man. Jesus loved that name for Himself more than any other name, He used for Himself the Son of Man. Jesus wasn't created how we were. He created all things. But He loved the fact that He could associate with us, with humans. We need to be in the image of the Son of Man. If we copy Jesus, if we look to His image, then we will become perfect. None of us are perfect, but we need to do good and we need to become perfect for Jesus. So we need to pray and say, “Lord, let us be in your image, let us understand you, let us have your heart, let us have your mind, let us become just like you. Purify us from all unrighteousness. Let us be completely holy and pure and perfect.” And the Lord will start to purge you of all the things that are in you that are worldly and ungodly and unacceptable to Him. Getting all the filth out of your life, all the vanity, all the anger, aggression, all the insecurities. And then He will make you a true man or a true woman of God. And this is what we want if we're going to really be the Lord's children, if we're going to be His church.
There are too many men and women who are trying to do it the world's way. They follow the model of the world. And because they follow the model of the world, they will never be Jesus's children. They're always fighting as the world fights, always with the arm of the flesh, always trying to overcome with the things of this world.
But if we put our faith in Jesus Christ, if we trust Him and obey Him, He will make us in His image. Are you in Jesus's image today? Do you know who your creator is? Or have you believed the lie that you receive 666? You need to be like the movie actors. You need to be as the culture promotes women or men. I see all these young girls today in high school and they dress like toots. Why are they doing that? They think that is the image that a woman should be. They've taken on 666. They see all the famous people and the people that they look up to on social media, all the movie actors and their favorite musicians and they all dress like whores. They dress like prostitutes and they copy them. And the same with a lot of these men. They want to be just like all the other men that they see on social media and they copy that.
But we need to rid ourselves of that filth. We need to dress in purity and we need to be righteous and above reproach. Are we free from all of the pornographic wicked stuff of the world? Or have we taken on the image of Satan? I want to pray for those of you that are part of the true church that are coming out of sin and darkness and that want to put on your white robes, that you want to be in the image of your Creator Jesus Christ.
“So Lord Jesus I pray for those that want to have purity in them, that want to be purged from the world, that want to strip off 666 and all the things that are perverse and evil in this world. We want to be separate from all of the evil holidays and all of the things that are just so demonic in the world. We pray that you purify your church, that you watch over us, that you keep us secure and that we look to you as our Lord and our Savior, and that we really put on righteousness and become in your image Lord. We want to be real men and women of God who serve you and obey you and live for you with all of our heart. In your name we pray Lord Jesus, amen.”
